The north of Madagascar also has many tourist attractions. The old colonial port city of Antsiranana really deserves to be visited during your time in Madagascar. It is a lively city both in the daytime and at night. Discover the city center with street names in French, the military district, and finally take a visit to the local markets to mingle with the welcoming and warm-hearted population.

Antananarivo – Antsiranana – Nosy Be
Day 1 : Arrive at Antananarivo airport (Ivato) and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 : Depart for Ankarafantsika National Park (excellent birding site)
– Discover the central high areas of Ankazobe and Tampoketra.
– Cross the bridge of the red river of Betsiboka and admire the rocks and many small chutes.
Overnight in a hotel in or near the park.
Day 3 : Explore Ankarafantsika park – walk to the canyon; go birdwatching; take a boat on Lake Ravelobe; watch sunset from the viewing platform.

Day 4 : Depart for Antsohihy, a large town at the top of the Tsimihety inlet.
– Discover the dry highlands of Sakalava Tsimihety .

Day 5 : Depart for Ambilobe and Mahamasina

Day 6 : Daytrip to explore Tsingy de l’Ankarana park.
– Parc Ankarana Est : visit the different sites (Tsingy Rary, Tsingy Benavony, and la Tourelle de Tsingy)
– Visit a bat cave.

Day 7 : Depart for the site of the black lemurs (park and lodge)

Day 8 : Travel to and explore Antsiranana (Diego Suarez).

Day 9 : Excursion to visit the 3 bays (Bay of Dunes, Pigeon Bay, and Sakalava Bay) for the beach, swimming, snorkelling or to learn kite surfing.
Alternatively, visit the Emerald Sea.

Day 11: Travel to Ambanja and Ankify and transfer by fast ferry to Nosy Be. (Nosy = island)

Day 13 and 14 : explore the seaside and take excursions to nearby islands such as Nosy Ranja and Nosy Tanikely.

Day 15 : Transfer to the airport to fly to Antananarivo (Ivato).

Day 16 : Visit the city accompanied by a local guide who knows the history of Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar.
